Every project is
unique in the problems that arise, the environment in which it operates, the
priorities and resources assigned it, and the project manager's attitude and
style used to guide and control project activities. A good and effective project
management has to be robust and fast. It requires having Scheduling, Resource
allocation, Collaboration, costing control, Budget management, Communication, Documentation
etc.
Two major questions are there in case of a project management,
·
What
is a project management?
The
application of knowledge, techniques, skills, and tools to project activities
to meet stakeholder needs and expectations from a project is called project
management.
·
Why
use project management tools?
Focus
and clarify our thinking so that we proceed in a systematic, effective, and
efficient manner and to reduce the confusion, frustration, backtracking, and
errors that can be associated with developing or introducing something new.
Project management is a challenging
task with a lot of responsibilities and fortunately there are many tools to
assist with. These are the few steps to follow, for the
usage of project management tools,
§ Establish goals for
your projects.
§ Determine the type of
projects that you are managing.
§ Search for the right
tools that meet your needs.
§ Assign tasks to team
members. You can share questions, ideas and resources.
§ Create a summery on
regular basis so that you can track the progress.
A variety of Project Management tools come and go, we need to understand their need, context to understand them and usage of them. It is not an easy task because we can make some mistakes even using tools. Some of us feel hesitant to get some guidance. This behavior should be discourage and try to learn new things.
